This package is used only in Maths, and will need some refactoring
to be more widely applicable

e.g. Chem's existing sqlserver2008 package has string that we can't
avoid identifying as env variables (in a log format string) but which
are not env variables, so we'd need to skip testing if the variable name
used is a valid one.
