Use of trim() function is deprecated in Php8

After upgrading to PHP8 on uas1-dev server, the use of trim() is deprecated in node.tpl.php in the theme - please see http://2023.postgraduate.study.staging.drupal.uis.cam.ac.uk/admin/reports/event/400781888 for an example.
