Regression Testing Script

When executing this regression test script the tester should paste this list into the relevant issue and check off the tests as they go.

Research Storage

  • Navigate to the home page and check details for "More info" and "Choose"
    • Check that all links are working and look sensible.
    • Check that the tabs in the "Choose" page navigate to other storage types.
  • Select any type of "Research storage" and get a quote for a particular size and duration of storage.
    • Check you get a warning popup if the size you request is too large (you can get the max quantity from /admin/storage/storage/)
    • Add a note to the quote and save.
    • Email the quote to yourself and check that you receive it and the details are correct (see note 2).
    • Check that the quote can be accessed in the "My account" page
    • Check the quote via the API using the /api/storage/quote/ and /api/storage/quote/{quote_ekey} endpoints (see notes 3 & 4).
  • Now "Pay for the storage" using a fake purchase order (any PDF), a random PO number, and ticking "Purchase order not raised using CUFS"
    • Check that you have received an order confirmation email (see note 2) and that the details are correct.
    • Check for a new account and license via the API using the /api/storage/account/, /api/storage/account/{account_ekey}, /api/storage/license/, and /api/storage/license/{license_ekey} endpoints (see notes 3 & 4).
    • Check that the PDF can be downloaded from /admin/payment/popayment/
  • On the "Configure the license" page, set yourself as the "Data Owner" and accept the T&Cs.
    • Check that you've received the email making you a data owner and that the details are correct.
    • Check the account's new data owner via the API using the /api/storage/account/{account_ekey} endpoint
  • On the "Configure the storage" page, give the project a name, a size, and yourself as a "Data Project Manager".
    • Check that this is dis-allowed as you are already the owner and change the data project manager to "Another User".
    • Check that "Another User" has received the email making them a data project manager and that the details are correct.
    • Check for the new project via the API using the /api/storage/project/ and /api/storage/project/{project_ekey} endpoints.
    • Check that HPC admin have received a "Project Provisioning" email and that the details are correct.
    • Check that the license and project can be accessed via the "My account" page
  • As an HPC admin, follow the project provisioning link to the "Storage Project Provisioning" page and confirm that the project and data owner have been activated.
    • As data owner, check that the project and data owner are in a "Ready" state.
    • Check that the license is activated, and that the project and users are in ready state ("4") via the API using the relevant endpoints.
    • Check the data owner has received a "Ready to Use" email and that the details are correct.
  • As "Another User" sign in and the accept T&Cs (see note 7).
    • Check that HPC admin have received a "Project Provisioning" email and that the details are correct.
  • As an HPC admin, follow the project provisioning link to the "Storage Project Provisioning" page and confirm that the data project manager has been activated.
    • As data project manager, check that you are in a "Ready" state.
    • Check that the license is activated, and that the data project manager is in ready state ("4") via the API using the relevant endpoints.
    • Check the data project manager has received a "Ready to Use" email.
  • Update the project usage via the API (see note 6)
    • Check that the project usage data on the "Configure the storage" page matches the posted data.
  • From the "Configure the license" page press the "Increase My Storage Size" button, get a quote for addition capacity, and purchase as before.
    • Check the "Configure the license" page for the additional capacity.
    • Check that you have received an order confirmation email and that the details are correct.
  • From the "Configure the license" page press the "Extend My Storage Duration" button, get a quote for an extension, and purchase as before.
    • Check the "Configure the license" page for the extension.
    • Check that you have received an order confirmation email and that the details are correct.
  • As HPC admin, navigate to the "Storage Admin" page (storage/admin)
    • Check that you can update the "Storage Total Capacity" (confirm at /admin/storage/storage/).
    • Check that you can view tables of both current and expired storage accounts.
    • Check that you can "Download Purchase Report" and that it's details are correct.
    • Check that you can "Create A New Account" and that an order confirmation email was sent to the payer.
  • Trigger/request the sending of the "Weekly SSGW Storage purchases by purchase order" email (note that your purchase will only be recognised by the process on the following day).
    • Check the email was received and that the activity matches your previous tests.
  • From the "Storage Project Provisioning" page remove "Another User" as "Data Project Manager"
    • Check that HPC admin have received a "Project Provisioning" email and that the details are correct.
  • As an HPC admin, follow the project provisioning link to the "Storage Project Provisioning" page and confirm that the data project manager has been removed.
    • As data owner, check that "Another User" has been removed as "Data Project Manager".
  • As the data owner, delete yourself from the "Configure the license" page and select "Another User" instead.
    • Check that "Another User" received a confirmation email and that the details are correct.
    • Check that HPC admin received a change owner warning email and that the details are correct.
    • Once "Another User" accepts the T&Cs check that HPC admin have received a "User Provisioning" email and that the details are correct.
  • As an HPC admin, follow the user provisioning link to the "Storage Project Provisioning" page and confirm that the new data owner has been activated.
    • Check "Another User" has received a "Ready to Use" email.
  • As data project manager, from the "Configure the storage" page, suspend the project.
    • Check that HPC admin have received a "Project Suspension" email and that the details are correct.
  • As an HPC admin, follow the project provisioning link to the "Storage Project Provisioning" page and confirm that the project has been suspended.
    • Check in the UI that the project no longer exists.

Institutional Storage

The following tests apply to "Institutional File Store" storage.

Notes:

  1. The tester will need SSGW admin rights when performing the above tests.
  2. All emails can be checked in https://mailhog.devops.uis.cam.ac.uk/
  3. API requests can be executed using curl. For instance, querying all quotes for research storage can be executed using curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $HPC_API_TOKEN" $SSGW_HOST/api/storage/quote/. $HPC_API_TOKEN can be retrieved from the SSGW application secrets in 1Password. If you wish to query IFS storage use the $IFS_API_TOKEN.
  4. The ids of API objects are not table ids but ekeys and can be read from API list endpoints.
  5. This test script mainly covers the "happy path". Further work is required to cover additional edge cases.

  1. While testing, it is useful to impersonate other users. This can be done in all non-production deployments by visiting /superadmin/impersonate and typing the username of the user you wish to impersonate.
