Clarification: Flow for raising a merge request relative to git commits
From the flow page of the guidebook, a summary of the flow is:
- Raise issue
- Create branch
- Commit changes
- Push branch with changes
- Raise merge request
- Review merge request
- Complete the merge (which auto-closes the issue)
Questions:
- The guidebook currently states that the "Closes" pattern should be used in the merge request description to close the related issue, but should the commit message(s) be edited to refer to the issue number when accepting the merge request? Should the commit messages mention the issue number at all before the merge is accepted, and if so should they avoid the "Closes" pattern?
