This page lists information on GitLab specific to users within UIS.
UIS as an institution is currently "special" in that the set of people who administer the UIS top-level group overlap with the set of people who administer the site in general. As the service matures we intend to formally split out these responsibilities.
## How do I get a group?
Users cannot directly create groups within the UIS group. To request a subgroup of the UIS group, [open an issue in this project](https://gitlab.developers.cam.ac.uk/uis/devops/devhub/docs/issues/new). We need to have a human-friendly name for the group, a suggested "short name" for the group and at least two initial admins for the group.
