size limit exceeded

Looks like our gitlab repo has exceeded its size limit. I have cloned a fresh checkout and cleaned it up. However, I cannot push back the results of the cleanup: remote: Your push has been rejected, because this repository has exceeded remote: its size limit of 0 Bytes by 4.1 GB. Please contact your GitLab remote: administrator for more information.

Could we please have a temporary increase in size limit to make it easier to clean up?

UPDATE:

All our push attempts to the Wales Group repo currently fail with a repo size exceeded error. I tried to clean up the PapersWales project over the weekend, and ran partial push attempts, but this project is now very messed up. Only four commits are visible, and a few small files. The rest of the directories have disappeared. Nevertheless, the size is still calculated as over 3 GB, and we still cannot push. Help please!
