The figure shows an example of where low concentration regimes are important. It shows a plot of two solutes: (tri-n-butylphosphineoxide (β= 10.2) 4-phenylazophenol (α= 4.3)) interacting in a mixture of n-octane, and a series competing solvents (S2) containing a large β functional group, at different concentrations of S2.
Therefore, in the solvent mixture experiments shown in the figure it is not possible to explore the concentration at which dibutyl sufoxide (red) and N, N diethylacetamide (green) are no longer in competition with solute solute interactions (ie the region in the orange box, where it would reach the asymptote)
